Workplace Mental Health
Accredited by the The First Aid Industry Body, this one-day course is to raise awareness of mental health within the workplace. This course will provide learners with the comprehensive knowledge and required skills to recognise and manage a range of mental health issues such as stress, anxiety and the impact of substance abuse. This is equivalent to a Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health.
Who should attend?
This course is suitable for for anyone who has Line Manager responsibility or wants to increase their awareness of Mental Health and how to support and manage it in the workplace.
What will they learn?
Delegates will gain the confidence on how to start a supportive conversation, learn about first aid action plans for mental health and how to implement them. They will learn how to encourage a positive mental health culture with in the workplace.
Learners will know how to identify when a person requires help and suggest where they may seek professional advice. The diagnose or treatment of mental health conditions can only be carried out by a healthcare professional.
Course content
- Recognising possible signs and symptoms of a person that has mental ill-health
- Understanding Mental Health and its stigma
- Using a Mental Health Action Plan to help those in crisis or need
- Finding external professional help and guidance
- The law in relation to mental health and the workplace
- Best Practice in the workplace e.g. when helping someone to stay in work or return to work
Certificate
On completion of the course, delegates will receive a Mental Health In the Workplace certificate and is valid for three years from the date of achievement.
It is strongly recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training. The learner will need to complete the full course again to re-qualify for a further three years.
