COVID testing for offices
With more employees now returning to the office, it is important they feel protected and safe in the workplace. One of the best ways to do this is to carry out COVID-19 antigen testing. At RB Health and Safety Solutions, we offer rapid nasal swab tests which produce results in 15-30 minutes.
COVID testing kits
Our nurses use SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Tests to detect specific antigens of SARS-CoV-2 in the upper respiratory tract (nasopharynx). Please note that the test is suitable for those who don't have any symptoms and identifies current infection during the acute phase of COVID-19.
How it works
When you book COVID-19 antigen tests for your staff, one of our nurses will visit your premises, bringing the testing kits with them.
Step 1: The nurse will check your employee does not have symptoms and will ask them to confirm their identity.
Step 2: The employee will need to provide a brief medical history, including any recent trauma or operations. Note: if someone has a deviated septum or suffers from epistaxis (nose bleeds), nasal swab testing will not be suitable for them.
Step 3: The nurse will ask the employee to sign a consent form and choose their preferred nostril for swabbing.
Step 4: A sterile nasopharyngeal swab will be inserted into the nostril until it reaches the surface of the posterior nasopharynx. The swab is then rotated before being removed. The process is quick and effective with only mild discomfort likely to be felt.
Step 5: The swab will be mixed with an extraction buffer solution. Three drops are then added to the specimen well on the testing device.
Step 6: Wait 15-30 minutes for the results.
Our nurse will read the results and explain these to your staff. If any further action is required, they will advise everyone on the steps to take.
Understanding the results
Employees will receive either a positive or negative SARS-CoV-2 result. Anybody who receives a positive result will be required to self-isolate immediately and follow current government guidelines. The nurse conducting your screening will be able to direct you to the latest information if required.
